Friday’s Feelings!

Posted on June 26, 2009

What kind of scrapbooker are you? Do you document events, everyday memories, or both? I’m definitely one who documents both but I love documenting everyday memories best. I think it’s because my kids are changing so fast and I know I won’t be able to remember everything about this magical time. I really try to document WHO they are in addition to what they do because that’s the kind of information I wish I had about my childhood! This recording of facts and feelings is why I always make sure that my layouts incorporate a good deal of journaling.

When creatinglayouts, I always make sure that my journaling is accounted for in the design of the page. I often use journaling as a way to fill up dead space and to balance out the overall design. This layout below is a perfect example of where I used a block of journaling to add more weight to the bottom right of the page:

This page about my boy’s quirks started with a colour scheme: I wanted to use rust, blue, and black to match my picture. I punched a few squares from the Engaging, Spirited, Tender, and Spectacular papers to frame the picture. Then I added some chipboard shapes to the left of the picture and a chipboard title above the picture before balancing the design with a block of journaling on the bottom right.

So, there you have it…a quick layout that forever documents some of my boy’s quirks. I am sure he will love reading this when he’s older ;) If you’ve never tried using journaling as a design element, you should definitely give it a try! It’s an easy way to balance out layouts and you’ll be glad you’ve recorded some memories on paper!

Until next month :)

It’s Wednesday!

Posted on June 24, 2009

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Well being Wednesday means it is wacky……and wacky we have, with a big paper mix up!! It was a good friend’s birthday the other day & I wanted to create something special for her in the way of a birthday pack. She is such a fun loving crazy gal so there was no question, it had to be bright & fun!

I am trying to be more ‘green’ about my scrapping these days & having a huge box of PP off cuts, I decided to use some of them up rather than just binning them. For the card, I cut myself a variety of  mini box shapes & layered them in a pile on the base card using different thicknesses of 3D puff tape. Then  tied some of them with ribbons & braid adding glitter for birthday sparkle. I suggest you use a fast drying glue like ‘mono’, sprinkle a layer of glitter lightly over the glued areas & wait for them to dry. Tap off any loose glitter….& Voila!! pretty finishes in a flash!

I left a little teeny white tag on the front of the pink parcel for me to write my buddy’s name :o)

She wanted some fancy face lotion for her present, but being a tricky shape I needed to find a suitable package design. After doing a bit of net-surfing I found a GREAT tutorial here for the perfect box. It is SUPER easy to make, even for me who tends to be ‘instruction challenged’ at the best of times :o) And it only used one piece of card stock with bits ‘n pieces for decoration.

Here is the collection of papers I used…. pleasant enchanting, enthralling fascinating, eye popping fascinating, fast track office lingo, sugar pie sweet cakes, cutie pie sweet cakes, lovey dovey sweet cakes, office lingo lunch hour, office lingo cubicle, fascinating press ons, fascinating chip die cuts , coconut pixiee stix and last but not least fascinating sticker strips.

Well you lovlies,  I sure hope these have inspired you to try some yourselves :o)

Remember to carry on uploading your gorgeous projects into the Pink gallery….I know I speak for all of us here at Pink Paislee, when I say that every day we continue to be amazed by your creativity, thank-you!

A Lil’ Old & A Lil’ New Manic-Monday!

Posted on June 22, 2009

Hi everyone! It’s time for a Manic Monday again, and anything goes on this day!

I recently found a picture of my oldest nephew bawling his little lungs out which was taken when he was just 8 days old. I was so amazed at how much he has grown! He’s now 3 years old, and I am thankful that we have pictures like this one because without it we would have all forgotten how he was like when he was younger.

In reminiscing my nephew’s growth through his 3-years worth of pictures, I decided to create this layout that mixes old(er) and new products from Pink Paislee! I love how timeless Pink Paislee products are, and how you can always use them across collections together.

If you look closely, each category of products used on this layout are a mix of old-er and new products.

The papers are Fascinating’s Bewitching, Fetching’s Engaging, Captivating’s Graceful and Office Lingo’s Close The Loop.

Alphas are Winsome Chipboard Alphabets and Alphabet Stickers, and Holly Doodle Alphabet Stickers.

Embellishments are Fetching Chipboard Elements, Fascinating Brads, Vintage Pop clear stamps and Tinsel Town Ribbon Set.

I hope you’ll have fun reminiscing good memories and also very good Pink Paislee yummy products this Manic Monday!
