Create A Garden Journal {Tutorial Included}

Posted on August 31, 2009

Our creative team member Holly Hanks has created a fabulous video tutorial showing you how easy it is to make this fun little envelope seed box holder and garden journal.  I love this idea and love love love how she trimmed out the bracket shape from our Amber Road patches set.  It looks so shabby and frayed on the edges.  Just perfect for autumn.  This project was created using papers, tags, brads and patches from our new Amber Road collection.

To preview the video tutorial just click to play the video below:

Holly is also giving away some Pink Paislee goodies on her blog but you have to jump over there and comment TODAY.

A huge thanks to Holly for creating such a fabulous project for all of us to try out.

STAMPIN’ SUNDAYS

Posted on August 30, 2009

Hello fellow Pink Paislee lovers :)

Today, I’m sharing with you a brand new layout I made especially for today’s post.

You know I have been loving each and every new PP collection and even though I’m more of a BRIGHT colors lover, I have been attracted by the Amber Road color palette a lot. I don’t even know whether it’s Fall that is approaching faster than usual or if it’s because my style has been changing, but the color palette is all I have been loving lately!

I have decided to mix two collections together for this layout : Amber Road and Twilight.

I’ve been using spray paint on my tags and on my Twilight paper (background) to add a little bit of shiny look.

Even though my background has a lot of texture, I wanted to add different stamps, work with overlay with my stamps and use different colors.

My title has been surrounded by the same stamp, in order to repeat the design and bring the eye to my title.

I love the Fabric patches because you can easily use spray paints on them, use rubons and stamp on it : the fabric is just perfect for all these techniques and they are very easy to use!

Consider your Pink Paislee stamps as your best friends to add more transparency and texture to your background! :)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Friday Journaling combining Titles

Posted on August 28, 2009

Well I just love using Titles in my journaling, it is something I do regularly and it is lots of fun, so if you would like to try something a little different with your journaling on your layouts just try having ago.  You can highlight parts of the journaling with larger words that make up the title or highlighting specific words such as colors or items.

Here is my example:

For this layout I used the gorgeous “Cupid” Collection I used “Love Potion” “Postcards” “Bow and Arrow” and “Hearts Bloom” pattern paper,  “Cupid Punchouts” “Cupid Bella Brads” and the yummy “Expressions Glitter Alphabets”.

I also cut out the Postcards from the “Cupid Postcard” pattern paper, and distressed and embellished with thread which I just loved, and I also added the tags from the “Cupid Punchouts” and also layered these with foam tape, as well as cut out individual flowers as embellishments to finish off the layout.

I hope you enjoy creating your own Journaling Title.

Have a wonderful day.

Wacky (Recycled) Wednesday!

Posted on August 26, 2009

Hi everyone! It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve posted here and I guess it has been a while since we skipped July to give you previews of the new CHA Summer 2009 lines. Anyway, Wednesdays on the Pink Paislee blog are all about doing unexpected things on our layouts. I chose to use something unexpected on my layout…the beautiful packaging that came with the Winsome collections!

I just love the subtle woodgrain pattern on this packaging as well as the delicate border pattern (the woodgrain is a bit hard to see on the layout but if you’ve bought the Winsome collection, you’ll know what I’m talking about). It was perfect to use as a photomat on this layout of my husband and kids feeding some chickens at a farm we visited this summer (I’m afraid of chickens so I was more than happy to hang back taking pictures, lol). Our family is trying to live greener these days and we are constantly finding ways to consume less by re-purposing things that would otherwise go into the recycling/garbage bin. I have saved every single piece of the packaging paper/cardboard from my scrapping supplies this year and I use a lot of it as scrap paper to test and clean stamps, etc. In this case, I’m really glad that some of this packaging found its way onto a layout :)

This layout uses my favourite collection from the summer release: Cupid! I usually prefer bright colours but for the subtle patterns and beautiful colour combo make this collection a must have for me!

Do you use packaging from scrapping supplies in creative/green ways? If so, please share it here in the comments section. I’m always looking for new ways to make the most of scrapping supplies, including the packaging :)

Check Out Our Cover Girl!

Posted on August 25, 2009

We are so excited to share our “cover girl” news with everyone today.  Our amazingly talented and super creative design team member Jennifer Beason has a project being featured on the cover of the new Paper Crafts Holiday Cards & More Issue.  This magazine hits news stands today and is jam packed with ideas for holiday decor, cards and handmade gifts.

You might recall we showed off this Nutcracker project last year when we attended the CHA Show in Anaheim last January.  This entire project features papers from our 2008 holiday line called Tinsel Town.

We loved this project so much when we saw it that it prompted us to give Jennifer a permanent spot on our team. We are blown away by her vision and the Paper Crafts team agrees!

Congrats Jennifer!  We just love this little guy :-)
