Saturday Sketch!
September 26, 2009 by admin
When I first started scrapping, I followed a friend’s advice and scraplifted a lot of layouts. Scraplifting really helped me learn about colours and design but somehow, I never liked my layouts quite as much as the original inspiration piece. Then, I discovered sketches. WOW. What a revelation. Sketches provided me with just the right amount of guidance to get started but still left enough of a blank canvas that I could really personalize the layout and make it mine. To this day, I turn to sketches whenever I’m short on scrapping time or short on inspiration. I’ve even started making my own sketches, usually based on an existing layout that I love, so that I can re-use the same design at a later time. That’s what I did with the layout and sketch below:
This layout uses the gorgeous Twilight line. I’m usually not a fan of themed products but this line is definitely different. Although the colours and general feel of the products is definitely Halloween related, I can really see myself using them for non-Halloween layouts as well. That’s a good thing because I only do a single Halloween page each year and I definitely want to get more use out of these papers!
If you haven’t tried sketches yet, I strongly recommend that you give it a whirl! Please link your layout in the comments section if you happen to try this particular sketch
I’m off to a homecoming football game with my family, have a great Saturday and weekend everyone!
