A “Cutting Edge” Trend!
November 26, 2009 by admin
If you had asked me when I first started scrapping if I’d ever own a die cutting system, my answer then would have been a resounding NO. I really couldn’t see myself buying a lot of dies and having to deal with storing and organizing them. My outlook changed when electronic die-cutters were introduced. I loved the idea of being able to cut any font so when I found a great deal on a Silhouette machine, I pounced on it.
My Silhouette has since become my most prized scrapping tool. If I had to, I could scrap with nothing but it and paper (of course, I love my other supplies too much to do that but it is nice to think that I could if I had to, LOL). While most people use cardstock for die-cutting, I actually prefer to use patterned paper, especially papers with subtle patterns like the B-side of the North Pole paper. The patterns just add so much dimension to die cuts! In the layout below, I used it to cut stars, an apple, and a border (from the Silhouette shape library) in addition to my title.
Don’t you love how versatile the Mistletoe collection is…It’s not just for Christmas layouts folks! The colours are perfect for so many other types of layouts, especially layouts about the men in my life! In addition to the papers from the Mistletoe collection, I also used the gingham paper from the Cupid collection…I love how the browns match perfectly!
Well, I’m signing off now but not wishing a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all our American readers! I hope you’re enjoying yummy turkey dinners and quality time with family and friends

How delicious is the red chipboard! As delicious as that apple I suppose. Beautiful layout.

love your layout! I too have used that same die cut on a boy page. I just love how versatile this line is.
I am loving my Silhouette more and more to these days! Love what you did on this LO!
I love your layout. It’s nice to hear you rave about your silouette. I love mine, too. It is so versatile and you have access to so much without all the storage issues. You inspired me all over again.
Very nice layout! I spy a few QuicKutz diecuts too!
