Happy Thursday everyone! Thursdays are all about the hot trends we see in the scrappy world. Today we are going to talk about banners! They are everywhere these days and come in all shapes and sizes. Along with large banners that can be draped across the mantle, people are using mini versions on layouts and cards! I can totally understand why they are so popular because they just make you happy. Who doesn’t want to be reminded of country fairs or birthday parties!
I love them so much, I decided to create my own using Pink Paislee products! I had this idea to do a layout about my son who is always moving and speeding around. The banners reminded me of a Nascar race so I even incorporated this thought into my title. Here is the layout:
Creating the banner was actually quite easy! Most banners sport a triangular flag so I simply found diamond shapes within the Bees Wax paper. I cut several out!
Then, I simply folded the diamonds in half, creating triangles. If there is some overlap, simply trim it off. I put a few drops of liquid glue onto the fold of the triangle and then placed a hemp string along the fold. Close the triangle and secure. Keep moving until you have the right size banner for your project.
I like a little variety so I also made a banner with circles. Use a punch to make several red circles.
Repeat the fold, glue, hemp method! Finally I used a piece of the Believe shaped paper from the 365 Degrees collection to form the third banner!
Put those banners to good use by using them as a place holder for your title. I used the small circles from the Whimsies Alphabet Stickers. Add other festive touches like stars and stripes, and you are done!
So move full speed ahead and make your own banners today! Be sure to link up your work right here in this post or in the Live Pink gallery!
Have a great day!
