Today I have a sketch and a layout to share with you. I used the Cupid collection on this page of my son with his sisters. He is always complaining about how he is surrounded by girls. It’s true. He and my husband have lots of girls to deal with around here . . . even our dog is a girl! LOL! I wanted to create this page to assure him that there are some positive aspects of having sisters . . . including one day having three brothers-in-law to pal around with.

I used the Expressions Ambrose Letter Stickers in Ocean and Expressions Glitter Chipboard Letters in Berry to create the title. The letters and handcut flowers are embellished with pearl accents from my stash.

If you play with this sketch, we’d love to see what you do with it! Link us up here in the comment box!

Have a great week!

Hi its Thursday and its my turn to post on the blog about trends in the scrap world

One thing i see a lot of lately is paper punches, especially border punches but also different shapes used in all sort of fun ways!

I created my page using different punches, circle, border punch and my cute lill` butterfly one.

I have used papers and decorations from my favorite line 365 degrees. Its perfect for summer pages but the line could just as well be called “365 days” because i have used the papers together with winter pictures, vintages pics and as here a pic from last spring!

This page was a quickie the punches made most of the work for me and i used a sheet from the paperpad as a backdrop for my photo, its also great to use when you want to do a lot of punch outs for your layout.

Other products used

Flip Notes, Die cuts, Borderline stickers, Alphas

Have a great thursday!

It’s time for another edition of Wednesday Word It, and the chosen words for today are “Family Ties” (No, not the Michael J. Fox sitcom. Not really :p).

I am sure most of you with children in the family will recognize the feeling to some degree, wheter it’s your own children or your siblings - this weird feeling of witnessing lifes repeatable cycle when watching little mini-mes running all over while reminiscing your own childhood…

Personally I find it both quite amusing and emotional (in a good way) watching mine and my sisters youngest daughters play together. Despite living at each our parts of the country and thus only get to meet each others like twice or if lucky, thrice a year, they go so amazingly well together in just a snap once they meet. The age difference between me and my sister is fourteen months - just the same age difference between our daughters. You could also argue that they look like exact copies of ourselves when we were little (although I think my daughter is way prettier than I was. And I’m quite certain I wasn’t as pouty or pesky or sassy ;p) - which makes it so much more fun watching them interact together. Here’s to hoping the instant connection them between won’t fade when they grow up…

I used the most recent photos of us all together for this layout, and pulled out the lovely “Cupid” papers to create this layout. Most of the tags on the side is made from the postcards-papers, where I cut out the various frames and paired them with a tag from the 365 degrees flip note journal (*love* these!) to make the journaling border.

The border was layered then sewn upon to make it a bit more interesting (or really, I just love my sewing machine ;p).

I snuck some pieces from the glitter alpha set and the cork button comes from the Bayberry collection. Also, to add to the romantic feeling on the layout I distressed the edges of the papers with distress ink and roughed them some once sewn on the layout.

The scalloped circlebackground here was also cut from the postcards-paper, and embellished with the flowers and pins and butterfly (made from a scrap of paper from the project - an awesome way to use your scraps and at the same time add to the uniformity of the layout). The flowers are sprayed with glimmermist by the way, but it’s not really visible on the photo :(.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts and feelings on this subject…can’t wait till they’re coming over later this spring and to watch our daughters play together again!

Do you have heritage photos you’d like to store in a special place? Today I have created a layout that is also a pocket to hold some old photos that my mom has given me of my ancestors. I really love the colors in the Queen Bee line and think they work wonderfully with these old photos.

To create the folder, I cut the Honeycomb (brown) paper a bit longer and a bit wider than the Honeybee (yellow). At the top, I folded the brown paper over about 1-2 inches. I laid the yellow polkadot paper over the base paper and machine stitched around the edges to create the pocket. (Don’t stitch the top closed.) You can create a clasp to hold the flap down with the Bella Brads. Adhere one brad to the flap and one to the front piece. Tie together with twine. The doily is a paper doily that I found in the baking section of AC Moore, and I cut a piece of Beehive paper to dress up the flap as well.

The Queen Bee frame stamp is stamped on the Beehive paper and cut out. A tip with the rub ons: cut them into any shape you want! Here I just cut a small rectangle, but you could cut it into a circle or star shape before adding it to your page. The flower was made with crepe paper.

Here are some of the old photos I am going to put inside. They are all families of my great grandparents.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

And I’d like to share one more thing before I go. I will be teaching a few Pink Paislee classes March 19-20 in Danbury, Connecticut, one class with each new line. Here are some sneak peeks of the Queen Bee card class:

Please visit my blog for more information about the classes: Homespun With Heart.

Thanks!
