introducing lynn ghahary….our february guest artist
February 22, 2010 by admin
Hi! My name is Lynn Ghahary and I live in Northwest New Jersey with my husband and high school sweetheart Salar along with our two wild and crazy boys Darian (age 5) and Brandon (age 3.5).
I was first introduced to the wonderful world of scrapbooking way back in 2000. As a young girl I had always loved to be artsy and creative so this hobby was right up my alley and I was hooked immediately! Unfortunately I didn’t have much time to scrapbook as I worked a very demanding full-time job and I did a lot more dabbling and buying supplies for projects I wanted to create than actually using them (although don’t we all! LOL). I took a break completely in 2004 when my first son was born and didn’t really come back to scrapbooking “full time” until early 2008.
Now that I’m back I am here to stay and have been completely in awe at how far this amazing craft has come since we first “met” nearly 10 years ago! Scrapbooking is my creative outlet – it lets me get in touch with who I am and my goals and dreams for myself and my family, all while preserving our most cherished family photos and memories. Not only do I love to scrapbook but I also love to create paper crafts of all kinds including cards, mini albums, and altered items. I also love to stamp on paper creations and try out new techniques. I am lucky enough to design for several wonderful manufacturers and have had my work published in several magazines including Creating Keepsakes, CARDS, Paper Crafts, Scrapbooks Etc, Scrapbook Trends, and Scrapbooks and Cards Today.
In addition to scrapbooking I am an avid gardener, bookworm, and wannabe photographer. I am also a self-professed reality TV show junkie and organizing diva.
I am thrilled to be a guest designer for Pink Paislee this month!
lynn’s creations featuring the 365 Degrees Collection:
“enjoy the journey”
One of the things I love most about the new 365 degrees collection is the mix of colors and patterns - they are just so refreshing! For this layout I chose to focus on the the beautiful shades of blue, green, and yellow in the collection to compliment this photo of my youngest son Brandon taken on the beach during one of our annual family vacations to Ocean City, NJ. I used a fun color-blocking technique to combine my patterned papers and lead the viewers eye right to the photo of my little guy.
“outtakes”
For this particular layout I decided to play with my mists, markers, punches and more. I used the large Expressions chipboard alphas as a mask for a play on the word “out” in my title and spritzed my patterned paper with some cream Maya Mist. I then layered with the new Expressions alphabet stickers (mine were white and I simply colored them with a red Copic marker). I used a Martha Stewart punch to punch out several different starbursts which I then stitched haphazardly to a strip of red patterned paper. A few pieces of Artisan tape in orange holds my photo strip in place and some bits of the new 365 degrees Press Ons around my page finish this layout off.
This layout was all about layering and embellishments. I used the fabulous new Cork Buttons, Bella Brads, Punchouts, and FlipNotes to adorn this layout about the start of the new year for my oldest son Darian. And, of course, who can resist the new Expressions chipboard alphas. I LOVE the large size and already weathered look for a really stand out title.
WOW is all I can say about this Lynn’s designs this month. Lynn has totally blown us away with her creative touches. Masking off letters for her title, stitching little hearts and using her Copic Marker to make those white sticker alphas red have definitely shown us new ways to use our current supplies!
Lynn is a force to be reckoned with and we invite you to visit her blog to learn more about her. We will most certainly be keeping on eye on her in the future! Thank you so much Lynn for creating such A-mazing layouts to inspire all of us.
Totally Green Monochromatic Monday
February 22, 2010 by Karola
Hello everyone! Today we have a Monochromatic Monday, so we will draw inspiration from a single color.
I must admit that I’ll show today my first monochromatic Lo, but it was great experience, so I had a lot of fun choosing from Pink Paislee collections only one color - this time it will be green!
Why I choose green? Look at the photo of my daughter Rose - is full of energy and fun! I just love her laugh and euphoric! Green always match the energy, fun and freshness and I am sure that you agree with me!
My Lo is full of greenery from various Pink Paislee collections, for example: background paper is from Cupid - Bullseye. Other layers I’ve made using Bayberry Cottage 6 x 6 Paper Pad and a decorative piece of 365 Degrees - Imagine paper. Â To add lightness I’ve used clear stamps - gorgeous frame from Bayberry Cottage Impressions Clear Stamps and “Lifetime” sentiment, hand and little stars is from 365 Degrees Impressions Clear Stamps. Â Did you know these flowers? Yes, my DT friends already showed them in their beautiful projects, this time I tried to do simmilar. I did it with folded Bayberry Cottage Ribbon Pleats, I added also glitter chipboards from Expressions Glitter Alphabeths - Limeade and letters from this set did the title.
Because I love to add a lot of embellies to my layouts, here I thought why not add something more? So I added labels from Bayberry Cottage Punchouts and Queen Bee Punchouts. Stunning Bayberry Cottage Bella Brads -Â looks like a tiny green apples on the top of this totally green cake
I hope my green monochromatic layout will be inspire you to play with the green and do you feel this amazing dose of energy, that comes from the true color of spring!
Have a wonderful week!
Sunday Sketch
February 21, 2010 by Leena
Good Morning Everyone! It’s been a great week for me and I hope it is for you too.
It’s sketch day again and I’m happy to show you what I did with my sketch using a mix of Queen Bee and 365 Degrees. Just a couple of months ago, my best friend Alicia finally got married to the love of her life. I’ve been waiting for years for her to get hitched and I’m truly happy she’s now happily married to her best friend Jeff! It was truly a beautiful wedding, a simple affair but worth a lifetime memory. I was one of her “unofficial” photographers and I’m using one of the pictures I took of them in the church in this layout.
Here’s the sketch that I came out with.
And here’s my layout, which I intend to give them as a post-wedding gift even though I’ve already made them many other gifts.
I love how the Queen Bee and 365 Degrees collections compliment the picture so well and I’m so glad I have them with me. I cut out and popped up the Bee Hive die cut paper as the centre frame of the page and used the Daydream paper from 365 Degrees as the background, which adds a contrast to the whole layout. I created a collage using the 365 Degrees Flip Notes and Queen Bee’s products, the Honey Bee (flourish cutouts) and Worker Bee papers, Punch Outs Die Cut, Ribbon Pleats, Cork Buttons, Bellas Brads and I used the Expressions Ambrose Alphabets “Licorice” for the title “Journey”.
So, do you have any pictures that you think it would look great with these collections? Once they hit the store in March, which is real soon, get ready to grab them, create something worth remembering and don’t forget, you can use this sketch to create as many layouts as you want! If you can’t wait, just share with us and post a link in the comment box what you did with this sketch with any other Pink Paislee’s collection. We would love to see them!
Have a great Sunday and thank you so much for dropping by!
another take 5 Friday!
February 19, 2010 by Amanda
Hi everyone,
Amanda Muirhead here with my very first blog post since joining the creative team at Pink Paislee (someone pinch me!). I was pretty excited to learn that my first blog post would be on a Friday. I think the Take 5 Friday idea was made just for me. I’m the kind of gal who loves to use lots of lots of product on my page so 5 was easily attained. Actually, I think I used closer to 10 products but who’s counting that closely!?!
This layout is about how happy it makes me to watch my daughter, Larissa, just playing. I snapped this photo of her during an unusually warm Canadian November.
When I am creating a layout, I always reach for the die cut paper first. I am just drawn to any shape other than a square. I love the flip notes and the die cuts for creating all those fun layers. The pleated ribbon…oh I could go on and on about it. I don’t own a (working) sewing machine right now so it’s just perfect that Pink Paislee has done all the hard work for me. I just need to glue it down. Here are some more products that I used on this layout: 365 Degrees Borderlines Clear, 365 Degrees Bella Brads, 365 Degrees Punch Out Die Cut Tags, Expressions Weather Wood - Cotton Chipboard Alphabets and Artisan Tape Orange and Expressions Whimsies Alphabets - Pear
Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Be sure to show off what you make using your favourite Pink Paislee products at LivePink!
Word it Wednesday
February 17, 2010 by Malin
Hi everyone its Word It Wednesday with me, Malin!
This has to be one of my favorite blog themes because it seems like the possibilities are endless and it just kick started my creativity!
I thought long about which word i should scrap about.. At first i wanted to do a sort of new years resolutions page and then started to play with the word year in my head. I thought about what i wanted for this year and that lead me into thinking about something that is in my thoughts a lot right now.
I decided to scrap about it even though its not an easy subject, but its good to get your thoughts down on paper and to scrap about hard things also, it gives a sense of relief..

For about one year ago we decided that it was time to try to have another child i was so excited about trying to give the little girl here a brother or a sister.
My joy when the + sign came up on the pregnancy test was endless.. Unfortunately it ended up with a miscarriage. And so did the following pregnancy. I still hope for another baby even though the whole process is a bit more scary now. And this is what the word Year ended up with to scrap about my feelings the last year and how i still have faith in getting another little one.
I have used mostly things from the queen bee collection, it is so gorgeous and i love the color palette in it, from dark chocolate to light yellow green hues, and many of the papers has patterns that you can cut out and use as decorations. It gave a contrast to my photo that has a lot of pink in it. I still wanted some pink on my layout so i punched out some butterflies and added the fun new cork buttons as centers for them!
I took one of the borders from the Borderlines Clear Stickers and since my papers where so dark i decided to let the sticker stay on the sheet i cut around it and added it to my page as a border
And if you get inspired from the blog themes don’t forget to add your Pink Paislee projects to the live pink gallery!!
Have a great Wednesday everyone
